New faces for Church of Scotland Guild
Lesley McCorkindale from Dalgety
Bay is to be the incoming national convener of the Church
of Scotland Guild. Lesley, originally from Anstruther
is, at 33, the Guild’s youngest ever convener. A
member of the Guild for some time, she has been convener
of her local Guild and has wide experience of the Guild
at national level from her years as convener of the committee
concerned with younger people. A product of Glasgow and
St Andrews universities, Lesley continues herstudies with the Open University while working as chaplaincy
administrator at Edinburgh University. Married to Donald, minister
at Dalgety Church, Lesley is looking forward to her year of
office. Speaking shortly after her nomination was approved by
the Guild’s national executive, Lesley said she was “honoured
to be asked to serve the Guild in this way.”
At the same meeting, Ann Bowie, an elder from Bellie Parish
Church in Moray, was nominated as national vice convener.
Ann, originally from Glasgow, but resident in Moray for over
30 years, retired from work in the education sector in 1998.
She has served the Guild in various capacities; group and
council convener, as well as a past convener of the Guild’s
programmes and resources committee.
Lesley and Ann take up their appointments following the General
Assembly in May 2006.
